It looks like an "ordinary" car. It looks like a hot car. Not only is it functionally awesome, it looks awesome. This is a car that people would want to not only drive but be seen driving. Let's be honest, most people will buy a car b

For a company that is in decline a lot of cash in the bank is pointless. Yahoo was in decline. So you can either have nice balance sheets while others chip away at your core business or you can spend your money either rebuilding your core

I'm in my mid-thirties and I can give you an exact age that I saw this happen - 8 years old. My elementary school always had a 'field day' where the home room classes in the different grades would compete in simplified track and field event

I'll disagree that a CFO shouldn't have insight into company culture. I think the problem with CFOs in general is they are just ledger monkeys - there's red ink and black ink. Development is always in the red even though it's the place whe

Donald Trump is hated because he's a pompous ass. He's got a loud mouth and is just about as crazy as Michelle Bachmann. Now, if he'd let his businesses do the talking for him he would simply be another conservative rich guy. The liberal

Can someone explain to me why this would be bright? I understand that this should send up a fair amount of ejecta but wouldn't most of the light be just from a reflection of the sun off of the particles? If so, this isn't much of an explos

Yeah, I don't get the whole aversion to showing some proof outside of the photos. I would find it annoying but I don't think it would be difficult to prop up an iPhone and film the assembly of one of these.

I can see it now: automated water cannons on top of every house as anti-aircraft/drone! Safe for wildlife (birds) but not for electronics. Then, waterproofed drones. Followed by silly-string cannons to gum up any rotors. Where will it e

To play devils advocate, the driftwood lamps are all unique pieces made with lighting parts that probably couldn't be made by an individual. A clockwork is outside the scope of individual construction as well.

Unlike the housing bubble no one loses in the end. Sure, the Youtube revenue stream will dry up but that's the nature of the business. Either the content providers will move on to The Next Big Thing(TM) or will just be replaced by someone

Agreed. I watch only a couple YouTube channels actively and there's a common thread in almost all of them: the 'host' has an interesting personality. Sometimes that personality is completely fabricated and sometimes it's real - it doesn't

We can take our industry back, but it won't happen in VC-istan. It all depends on what you want, and unless you read this website with a grain of salt you are just playing into it. HN is about the big score. Sure, sometimes there are ins

I think the marketing and reality just didn't seem to mesh (although it usually never does). On the commercials and ads for Facebook Home everything was a professional picture that looked great. Meanwhile, in reality, you get today's todd

In most cases, these waiting periods are for handguns and not rifles or shotguns. The law is not to prevent suicides but to prevent 'crimes of passion'. There would be very little difficulty in someone killing themselves with a rifle or s

I guess what people don't have a problem with there is that at least someone is physically listening in on a phone line - it requires manpower to do and thus is very deliberate. It's when we are being data mined by the government there's a

You don't need to brow-beat me over an honest mistake. It's not like I was an order of magnitude off or anything like that. Utility patents are 20 years and design patents are 14.

I'm not saying that at all. I frankly don't think copyright should be more than maybe 30 years. If you can't make money on it by then maybe someone else can. I don't have much experience with patents but thought I had read that they were

I find it odd that we protect one segment of creatives and not another. Artists get these insane protections yet if you invent something it's up to 24 years and only if you want to spend the time and money getting the protection. What an

I am someone who takes pictures who is a friend to someone who takes photos. There is a fair amount of distinction between those two sections of the spectrum. I bought a Nikon D50 years ago which only had a kit lens for a trip to Hawaii.

But the Feds define a rifle as a firearm so does it matter what the NY law defines? Unless they are defining it as something that is much more strict, which, as draconian as the gun laws are in NY, that wouldn't surprise me.
