Changing defaults around means that you're forcing people to learn new behavior specifically for your site. Not a particularly user-friendly thing to do. And in Safari, doing this would raise even more confusion; the default behavior works

It seems to me that most of the 'mouseover' problems described can be handled with click-and-hold. Nope; the "Tap and hold" gesture is used by the Safari (and the iPhone OS, for that matter) for other tasks already, namely to bring up the

Apple's fixed the criticisms from a few months ago (long submission updates, poor/inconsistent private API policy, etc). Not to say that you wouldn't have to look far to find new criticisms (their recent removal of "adult" apps, to name o

Nokia uses WebKit in their S60 platform. WebKit's trac even has a branch for their old fork (which, afaik, has been merged into mainline by now).

In the early 80's to the early 90's Apple achieved fairly significant success at getting their computers into elementary and middle school computer labs. Ignoring the fact that these labs are now stocked with Dell's or other cheap machine

Personally, I prefer a platform, where I won't potentially run into an application designed for a device with hardware that I don't have. I would prefer a device that is consistent. It doesn't have to do everything under the the sun. It jus

The iPad isn't about hardware, at all. The iPad is about getting away from the hardware. About having a completely new way to use a computer. Yes, to do the same tasks you do now. But to do them in a better way. That this device is bettin

The iPad (and this tablet, for that matter) is not a netbook. Throwing Gnome without the bar on the bottom on it won't magically make Ubuntu usable on the tablet in any way that makes sense. I can go compile an X server for the iPhone and
