The App Store has refunds, but it isn't an automated process. You basically fill out a form in iTunes saying you want a refund (and say why), and you'll get one. I've seen a few refunds. But, not too many; I could probably count the number

Romania isn't exactly a surprise either. A lot of Eastern Europe is in pretty bad shape. With Romania, their GDP dropped by approximately 20%, or $40 billion in in 2008/2009. Its only expected to go up by about $7 billion or so in 2009/2010

I entered my email into the form and never heard back from Amazon. So I spent the time playing with Palm's SDK and PDK for WebOS instead.

You don't necessarily have to have citizenship of a country to live there. Nor do you have to live in the same country that the rest of your family lives in. I'm just wondering how much (if any) of his/friends/families experience is due to

There has been work on performance; in a lot of cases, MacRuby is faster than YARV. Just, not in this case, with strings. Thats mostly because strings were just redone to use NSString's internally, so there hasn't been as much work done o

Also might be worth noting: MacRuby is an implementation of Ruby 1.9, not 1.8.x. Any benchmarks done should be compared against YARV, not what comes with OS X.

Kochan's book is great for the language itself. But, that doesn't help you with the frameworks. For that, I'm a huge fan of Hillegass' Cocoa Programming (and its how I first picked up Cocoa), but, I'd only recommend it if you're more intere

Nimbyism. People want it. Just not near them. Near someone else is fine. The word "nuclear" has too many negative connotations for it to be near them. A perfect example of this is the Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant on Long Island in the 70's.

I was simply referring to OS X's automated crash reporting tool. Which does work after a kernel panic, regardless of what messed up badly enough to cause such an event.

OS X saves a log and sends (or asks to send) the report back to Apple the next time the user logs in.

Just to nitpick, its AppKit, not UIKit. UIKit is on the iPhone, where, sadly, MacRuby isn't available.

1. How is the learning curve for a ruby programmer ? None. MacRuby is an implementation of Ruby 1.9. A very fast Ruby implementation, but, not a completely new language thats only similar. HotCocoa is a gem. A very useful gem that should

Are you saying that Adobe reimplemented the UI? Or that they pass it off to the OS to handle? Because if its the former, the iPhone doesn't have a menu dropdown for cut/copy/paste. Or a ctrl/command button, for that matter. I'm only asking

"Selectable text" is an option in any Flash text field. Is copying/pasting it to the OS (or app) pasteboard an option? If so, will it use the same UI as native apps have? Or will it force a funky widget of its own in the middle of an app

What would you suggest it do? Reformat the text to fit the iPad's screen completely. Doesn't seem like too much of a hassle. Some titles are really long and scaling the size would create very small fonts. Its not much of a hassle. But

Couldn't the issue mentioned by the comment be addressed pretty easily? Just have a blog or twitter client that announces the giveaways as well; "Giving away: A shiny foo! To enter, use our iPad app!"
