Then those clients are broken and should get fixed.

CAcert.org is no longer included by default in many major distributions. They were removed from Debian a while ago. And they also started using SHA-512 (?) signatures that don't work with some TLS stacks, notably GNU TLS.

No. It just makes it easier to build even more services that can't talk to each other. What we need are federated services, like email and XMPP.

Not well. OTR doesn't integrate with XMPP in any way, so adding carbons is just going to feed undecryptable garbage to your other clients. Solving that is pretty much the same problem as mpOTR aims to solve. There's also a new p

It's a header with a version number and the ID of the receivers key that the message was encrypted with. Base64-decode and hexdump those messages and look for 54483646 (one of the subkeys of F8669BB7). The encrypted message is after

I'm having a hard time taking this seriously, it just sounds like a joke. Throwing ketchup at pastafarians?

Nice effect. I really like how it made the sound of a fan spinning up, and then showing me my desktop and an application crash notification.

This is why I believe in the federated client-server model. It is much easier to build a system with a few trusted parties that a system with zero trusted parties. Eg in XMPP, only your server sees your IP address until you initiate some o

I had a hacky wiki based on GPG-signed text files: https://gist.github.com/Zash/3804318 Editing was done through a shell script that fetched the source, invoked my editor, signed and uploaded the signed text back.

FYI: RFC 3920 was obsoleted by RFC6120 in 2011. Implementing a lot of features is a lot of work. How is this different from any other protocol, or any kind of system?

How would you define an "escape hatch" without replacing every device on the planet? And IPv6 is really a 64 bit addressing scheme already. 64 bits for the network, and another 64 bits for the host within that network. The later part can

BankID is using pretty standard public key crypto with a custom API. http://wiki.fribid.se/ has some docs on how it works (in swedish).

But, the only real change is the larger address space. And some rarely used features of IPv4 were removed. How is that 2nd system syndrome?
