My guess is because it's kind of misrepresenting the data. While it's technically true, most of those co-morbitities were things like respiratory failure or pneumonia. So while it's not an outright lie, it's also not a p

No, but they were written using the Closure Compiler type annotations. So closer to TS than plain JS.

I just use the --app flag for Chrome. Basically gets me an SSB, but still lets me right-click to open links in different profiles.

I think the key is that it would be completely voluntary. Not many people are going to complain if you want to go off do your own thing.
