If it takes 100 years to fill the dam and emptying the dam will generate 2PWh, then the expected average power is 2.3GW. That's closer to 3 nuclear reactors.

Google comes with less crapware but not none. Google Slides and Play Movies are a couple of examples of crap that don't really need to be there.

Yes, I know Riot has stated that VMs aren't supported. I'm no expert on anti-cheat but other popular games (e.g. Apex Legends) run without BSoD and as far as I can see don't have serious issues with cheating. I don't thi

There are plenty of high-CRI LEDs available at reasonable prices. Bridgelux [0] and Yuji [1] are a couple of examples off the top of my head. So I don't believe it's the LEDs that are the problem. And yes, by modern standards they

Riot's anti cheat is the only one I've found that causes my KVM virtual machine running Windows to BSoD. Ironic that the post title indicates Linux-awareness but the post content breaks any chance of playing Riot's games on a

The difference isn't just age. Grana Padano and Parmigiano-Reggiano are different cheeses, just like Camembert and Brie are different cheeses. Since they're both PDO, you can read the detailed requirements [0,1]. The differences a

Your profile says Auckland. The law in NZ [0, 1] doesn't specify a speed limit but a power limit of 300W. It looks like you can buy a 45km/h ebike like [2]. The reason you probably see a lot of 25km/h ebikes is that in the EU

So you know, Grana Padano isn't a kind of Parmigiano-Reggiano, it's a similar but different kind of cheese. A quick Google shows that Trader joes markets it as "Grana Padano Parmesan" so I don't blame you for the co

Keep in mind there are a lot of people who don't use a computer outside of work/school. For many people it might be a lot easier to lean their phone against something and hit record in the YouTube app than to type out a blog post

It's true that monetization has changed things and I can understand that for some folks it's bad but for some I think it's been really good. In the old days the content was only driven by passion, because it wasn't reall

I think YouTube is like Reddit: it is what you make of it. If you only ever look at the front page of Reddit, you're going to be fed memes and outrage. If you go and subscribe to a few small, focused subreddits, you're going to se

Honestly it's mostly a novelty for me, I did it for bragging rights and out of curiosity. 1Gbps to 10Gbps has some tangible benefits like downloading large games in a fraction of the time, or doing super fast backups. However when you

Ah, I wasn't aware that they pull content from Google and Bing. However they do it, I get different search results from Kagi than I do from say DuckDuckGo and I have no reason to believe my privacy is compromised.

At 1Gbps the internet becomes close to indistinguishable from a local network, opening up interesting possibilities like a "NAS" that's actually just the cloud. That extra bandwidth, combined with the low latency of fibre, ca

It even has PDF translation now, which I think is pretty awesome. I live in a German-speaking country and it's invaluable for translating certain difficult things like government issued information sheets on certain legal issues.

The system acts slowly and and is only active if the driver has engaged it (like cruise control). You'll be driving at 120kph and you'll notice the car has slowed to 118kph because it thinks the speed limit is 100kph. You push the

The car doesn't limit your speed. It only alerts you or updates cruise control. You can always override it by using the pedals. Under no circumstances will the assistance system disable the brakes or accelerator.

I think the title is a bit misleading. The mandate is for intelligent speed assistance. I own a car with such a feature and I think it's already pretty common in higher-end vehicles even without the mandate. The form it takes in my car
