For those thinking unsafe Rust is harder than C. C standard defined just 216 unsafe rules, that you need to keep in mind at all times.

That's not a valid argument. For most of human existence there was cannibalism and/or human sacrifices. This doesn't mean we should go back to it.

Yes, I'm aware. It seems now there is a further bifurcation. OLTP is no longer general purpose, but now it's also for only one narrow use-case.

People seem to describe it at OLTP, and one of first DBs to come up in OLTP search is MySQL.

TigerBeetle is impressive, but it's a single purpose DB. Unless you fit within the account ledger model it's extremely restrictive.

How exactly are you going to implement generics in a way that's: > What you don’t use, you don’t pay for. And further: What you do use, you couldn’t hand code any better. without monomorphizing the generics?

To be fair to ChatGPT, trying to find good documentation for Ada +/- Spark hasn't been quite as smooth sailing as trying to find something for C++. > Ada has as much zero cost abstractions as C++ and Rust have. Couldn't fi

Yeah, I get it now. HIP converts CUDA code to HIP code, then converts that code to ROCm (AMD) or PTX(nVidia). Zluda converts CUDA code to PTX, but that CUDA license was changed during 2021 to prevent these kinds of efforts. This is why AMD
