There's an issue open on the rustc issue tracker that describes what's missing https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/issues/48707 (reproducible builds is the big one)

This is explicitly a non-goal. Ferrocene considers itself a certified downstream of the rust project and as such we certified the rust compiler as it was at 1.68. There's no effort or push to standardize the language from our side. As

Automating the generation of this beast from the test runnners output was fun. It's an essential part of the qualification documents.

Reflections on trusting trust is a great paper, but it's not the reason to have certified compilers. There are better steps to build a trust-root for your compiler, for example bootstrapping the rust compiler from source, by either sta

Yep, true. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Other states have plenty of beautiful, livable, attractive mid-size towns because they have in fact managed to avoid these issues. Have good internet, have solid connectivity to places people w

I loved the area, except for the Octoberfest. People leaning on the church walls, puking. No way to use any public transport station nearby. Hordes of drunks moving from/to Hackerbrücke. Unbearable. Unbelievable if you haven‘t seen it.

I used to live right next to the Wiesn (on the place with the St. Paul’s church) and we‘d have strict orders to keep the gate to the buildings yard closed at all times during Octoberfest or the potted plants would die due to urea oversupply

„Germany“ doesn‘t have a housing shortage. German cities do, and it‘s a huge problem. But on the other hand, Germany also has a huge infrastructure deficit in more rural areas - I live in Berlin and would happily vacate my flat to move to a

You won’t get around fees paid in the certified compiler world. If you want someone to sign, stamp and deliver paperwork proving that a compiler upholds a standard and likely also take liability for it, you’ll need to pay. Few organizations

Maybe, but the point here was plastic pollution. And there, streaming clearly wins, but I believe only marginally.

How much plastic does this actually produce? The DVDs are reused multiple times, as are the boxes. They are comparatively unlikely to end up in the environment, since they are in a closed and controlled environment - people are unlikely to
