Is it even possible to translate in real time? In many languages and sentences the meaning and translation needs to completely change all thanks to one additional word at the very end. Any accurate translation would need to either wait for

An incredible book. One very near and dear to my heart. It always sits on the bookshelf behind me with pride of place in every video call or conference.

Humans have incentives to not do those things. Family. Jail. Money. Food. Bonuses. Etc. If we could align an AI with incentives in the same way we can a person then youd have a point. So far alignment research is hitting dead ends no matter

My biggest gripe with teams is their markdown formatting. It works if you type it out character by character, but paste some Markdown in and it does nothing.

I just use obsidian out of the box. No extensions. I dont use tags. I dont use any fancy features. Its a markdown editor with a file tree to me. Its great.

I can type at spees of thought without discomfort for hours. If i write at that speed for that long i get messy handwriting and pain.

The refresh rate on e ink makes them awkward for coding. Scrolling through a text file or terminal window. Browsing files. Etc. Web dev would be very cumbersome. Everything gets slowed by it. Even typing fluently feels rough at less than 1H

Look up AI safety and THE aligment problem. This isnt a matter of training data quality.

If documenting the why rather than the how you often end up tying high level concepts together. E.g. If you describe how the user service exists you wont necessarily capture where it is used. If you document why the user service exists you

Will it though? Fundamentally this is an alignment problem. There isnt a single AI out there that wont lie to your face, reinterpret your prompt, or just decide to ignore your prompt. When they try to write a doc based off code, there is no

This is such an apples to oranges comparison that it makes me suspicious of your motives here. Bad documentation full of obvious errors and nonsense is very different to having an opinion on OO vs Functional programming. Even that sentence

Just to add fuel to the fire...AI output is non deterministic even with the same prompt. So users searching the same thing may get different results. The output is not just query dependent

The fact they get brought up in such conversations still is proof of that, however i would counter that they failed in their main stated objectives and were dismantled, beaten, even ridiculed in public for it. They became a stark reminder t

Id rather have data in a generic error type than no data in a specific error type. How useful is a file not found error type without data (the filename) when the program is looking for 50 files? Not very. How useful is a generic error type

I tend to follow the rest of the ecosystem when developing libraries. If i wanted to make a zig lib id look at what other major libs are doing (or not doing) and copy that. If i found no consistency id be making a post like OP but from a di

Then your qr code only works if the url shortener stays online. In many cases its wiser to roll your own permanent shortened urls so you aren't beholden to a third party service.

2 british blokes in a shed doing what an entire team of corporate engineers cant is an incredibly strong part of British culture. They strive to be scrappy. They dont like making a show of things. They dont like to ask for more. Essentially

Chances are it could be similarly expensive because cobol devs are more expensive now? Is very old but still scalable infrastructure really much cheaper to run now?

If anything the push to use AI has made me more expensive as a dev so far. If im honest i am only slightly more productive but i also burn through tokens.
