Because writing/improving yet another JavaScript client side library fails to address the fundamental flaws with JavaScript which are well laid out. ECMAScript 6 will likely correct some of these flaws, but the necessity for backward

I can't think of any language other than Go that had relatively high adoption pre-1.0 . Of course I'm sure someone will point out a few examples... but I digress: Last I checked Java was the #1 or #2 top programming language in

Exactly - this is not a radical new language. This is a language that in my opinion takes the best of JavaScript and Java, and puts them together. If you're familiar with either, Dart will take you a few hours to get into. Developer

I imagine a major reason for the semi-"surprise" announcement is that the team wanted to pre-empt buzz around EMCAScript 6 which contains some features also in Dart. Just a theory... (PS I prefer Dart though.)

You have to remember that Dart Editor was started before Google moved to IntelliJ for Android (at least publicly). Dart Lang is a relatively small team compared to the people working on the Android dev stuff, so my guess is that it probabl

"Working" in this instance would be convincing others not to complain. I have no way of measuring that outcome. I tried, my effort got some exposure, so perhaps I can h o p e that I convinced at least one person. Clearly, I fai

Like I said, "You have a right to be revolted by it." But, I think it would probably be a better use of your time to be uncomfortable over things like hunger and disease than a company trying to promote a new programming language

If you don't like Dart, don't use it. Nobody is taking away your AngularJS. Google has a right to promote whatever language it thinks will give it a competitive advantage. You have a right to be revolted by it. However, the hyp

Since I've written so much about this topic now and gotten carried away I will say that for someone new to the field of Steve Jobs Studies, the best introductory sources are the Isaacson biography and Pirates of Silicon Valley (movie)

It seems they have shifted their focus from providing a cheap consumer alternative to Microsoft Office to instead providing an alternative to Google Docs. It just shows their bigger competitor these days is Google as opposed to Microsoft.
