I don't understand why they're not fining the developers/manufacturers/sellers of products that harm the insects. Isn't it easiest to stop this at the source? How likely is it that individual farmers will make their

I think your original response came off as a bit defensive and combative, as did this one. Not a good look if you're trying to garner support, especially since the person has experience in this realm and it would've been good to a

I think this article is disingenuous, because not all things are difficult for all people. Some people really do work a few hours per week and still live a comfortable lifestyle, whether because they had a lot of help getting a comfy job (w

I just think it's that much easier to be well off with these conditions; less likely to be worse off; and easier to get back on your feet if you mess up. I think a lot of studies show this; here's a whole article on it [1]. [1] h

Ah, but if you have a high-paying job for little work, then you get to choose your difficulties - a new challenging hobby, sport, class, etc. Some people may seek wealth in order to avoid challenges, in which case yes the advice might apply

It sometimes takes more energy now than it used to, and sometimes I think that's because the physical activity I do now isn't as fun as what I used to do. When I was a kid I'd play sports with the kids outside, ride bikes, et

The load on the system is apparently hugely different. The system has managed to accommodate people with colon cancer and heart disease, so mandating those things hasn't been as pressing from that perspective. Meanwhile, covid has fill

I think this is conflating growth with technological advancement. One can grow without technical advance (e.g. farming on more land produces more, feeds more, uses more, etc) or advance technically without growth (using your examples, we ca

It took 12 years for the paper to be retracted, so I wouldn't necessarily say "suddenly". Also, I think fraud is easier to miss (which may seem as it being tolerated) if it's something people expect or is not such a big

If anything, I saw shortages as a failure of the capitalist system by which shortages are caused by greed, particularly by those with more money. From my understanding with a more socialist system in place, people would be limited to purcha

I don't remember seeing pigs or cows at any zoos I've been too. Have you? I've certainly driven past cows in fields, but a child living in a city may not experience that. I think pigs are even more rare since they don't

Perhaps similar to the OP, I'm accustomed to more explicit citations, so throughout the article it's really unclear to me what source applies to which quote. Is that standard practice in your domain?

Sounds like you might want to use something like finite element software, which is essentially what other programs do. FEniCS is an example of an open source library that could maybe help. People usually use something like ls-dyna or Abaqus

I don't think I see the logical consistency you're talking about. In one case, there is a black man killing another black man. To me it seems highly unlikely that race was a motivating factor. In the other case, there is a white m
