I feel like 30cm max depth is going to be a problem for most audio gear. So-called compact ones seem to optimize for height, with depth around 40cm [1], and the shallower ones [2, 3] seem to be around 31-33cm. Get a deeper console? [1] htt

Have you looked into Emotion ( https://emotion.sh )? It supports several modes of usage that cover a lot of use cases pretty elegantly.

It's hard for me to imagine people who know React moving to Vue. I'd have to assume different people, who've never known the beauty of React, are driving Vue's growth due to marketing.

If you read off your own ads live rather than playing recordings, there’s a good chance this app wouldn’t be able to differentiate them from your content in order to skip them automatically. I’d also expect listeners to be much less likely

I’d think a Roman or Latin-descendant-language-speaking person would have coined the term, since it's based on the word liber , Latin for “free”. I would also think the ancient Greek word [1] would have been more commonly used in cont

Because sometimes you want to pass data between blobs of code, (possibly separated by time, environment or language), or even to and from humans who may not understand code.

I find React's relatively simple architecture makes it easy to get into for JS devs; I've always found it extremely productive and maintainable. My sickness is to the point that it’s hard for me to imagine an immediate future wher

The article's most prominent example of an idyllic, walkable, “car-free” city is Venice, Italy, whose residents do have motor vehicles with full access to the city; they just happen to run on separate waterways. This would imply that t

I think if most of the pages were also dark like the surrounding chrome, because they implemented a dark theme with the prefers-color-scheme media query, that we would find the experience more agreeable. We’re in the early days, but once th

After some more thought, I’ve realized that should you want to allow but never force a user to manage appearance separately, you could give the toggle three options, ‘System setting’ (default), ‘Light’, ‘Dark’.

How is that going to work? User arrives at site, OS is set to dark, site is toggled to dark, so far, so good (assuming the toggle is smart enough to be set appropriately at this point). 1) User toggles OS to light, is your site going to swi

What I’m hearing is, “My precious snowflake app is so important, users must manage its appearance independently of the OS.” Once you allow the possibility of a different app setting, you effectively require them to continue managing it sepa

Why do you like Safari in light mode, or dislike it in dark mode? Are you referring mostly to the app chrome or to the content of the sites you visit? I would tend towards ease of configuration and consistency, and would only make exception

To me it seems like now that all browsers support the prefers-color-scheme media query, it’s no longer a best practice to allow/force users to toggle between light and dark theme separately from the OS. Centralization of config is a go

GQL can return the top level query plus relations and any other entities needed for the view in response to a single request. The fact you don’t need separate requests or view-specific endpoints is significant.

Animals used for transportation and labor are often shackled and beaten the duration of their short lives, worked until they’re too injured to continue, then slaughtered. Those raised solely for meat might have it comparatively easy.

To me, on the back-end, GraphQL means replacing controllers with query (GET) and mutation (POST/PUT/DELETE) resolvers, with very similar concerns, routing takes place in the GQL schema, and everything else stays the same.

GQL makes it convenient for the front-end to assemble a collection of queries needed to render the page in a single request, and then go about its rendering business upon response. The React-Apollo client I use also features an in-memory ca

GraphQL is not an alternative to ElasticSearch. It doesn’t care how you fetch the data needed to resolve a query, and could as easily be pulling from ES if performance demands it.
