Hashing can be done in a stored procedure. Maybe the organization decided that it's better for the DBA to handle hashing. Nonstandard maybe but not necessarily bad.

I think it's important to recognize the difference between Dockerfiles and Docker images. Docker Engine builds Dockerfiles to Docker images, but you don't need a Dockerfile to run a pre-built image.

Having a certificate from a CA like LE proves that you don't have a local MITM. The MITM would have to also somehow get between LE's servers and the website in order to get a trusted certificate. A self-signed certificate does not
