That is very, very scary. I wonder if this problem also exists in other countries besides the U.S. AFAIK it's nigh impossible to get away with this in the EU, or at least in Belgium. Belgium's worried about an increasing C-section

I had the exact same experience at SEA several weeks ago: I waited well over 30 minutes, had to remind the TSA officer numerous times that I was still standing there. He was not bothered one bit that I'd been standing there for so long

The main site for this is http://www.globalentry.gov/ . Sadly, it is only available for citizens of the U.S., Mexico and the Netherlands. Canadians can use the NEXUS program, which gives the same benefits. (See http:/&

WordPress needs more rules I'm convinced Wordpress is successful despite this. No rules implies very low barrier to entry .

The author lives in Ireland. Hence he's most likely a native speaker. Is it just me or do others also have the impression that it's mostly native speakers doing this incorrectly? Or are there some schools/conventions/… where "it's" is corre

"so Starbucks were saying they paid taxes that in fact their employees paid." That's what I meant by divulging something they shouldn't have. Them considering taxes their employees paid as taxes they (Starbucks) paid is obviously something

People stumbling upon this: please make sure you read the comments on that blog post. Apparently Starbucks changed the original writing; with huge semantic differences. It seems they divulged something they shouldn't have…

One part that really makes The Pirate Bay very efficient is their torrent tracker software. Unlike Python and PHP implementations, theirs is written in C, with very little dependencies. It's called OpenTracker — http://erdgeist.org/arts/so

Assuming this is safe and works well, an interesting side-effect is that the need/recommendation of aggregating CSS files would be at least partially obviated.

The things you say only apply to the U.S.; in most of Europe, debit cards are significantly more secure. And since debit cards are the most common payment method, the sort of crazy behavior that was described in the linked article is actual

With credit cards, your money is also (temporarily) gone until you notice and complain: you have less credit available. This can be an equally big problem.

It'd be interesting if this was VOIP. Then you'd be able to get a temporary (or pseudo-permanent) U.S. number from outside the U.S.

I've worked at Facebook (internship). They use Chrome/Chromium extensively for development. My guess is that this is just not a high-priority thing to change. One of Facebook's mantras is "Focus on Impact" (others: "Move Fast", "Be Bold" …)
