It's a bit unclear from the article whether the woman is a channel moderator, an IRCop (her statements seem to imply so, or someone physically hosting the network. (The source of her problems seems to be the ips hosting the network). Beside

A mod on irc is not a mere bypasser. It is, to some extent, someone who maintains the network. If we assume that the network's sole purpose is to help anonymous, she is, technically, supporting anonymous. I won't assume these (the problem i

That doesn't really change the current situation. They own the browser, after all. And I'm pretty sure they already get part of the page via things like integrated page language detection for translation. This is a bit more precise, but not

The title should really be "When Java wears you out". He seems to be more interested in complaining about the verbosity level of Java than about idiomatic code.

The presence of a network connectivity on an iPhone (or even an iPod Touch) is a bigger problem than the ability to put notes in it. Notes are just a basic help, while the full answer is a different matter.

Maybe that's just me, but everytime I see a "just reply to this email", I stop and wonder about the details. Do I have to put something more in the body ? Will my mail go through ? Is it automated, or will a real person on the other side pr

Among all people who know how to program, the fraction of them who know what automatas are isn't so high. And if you restrict yourself to, among those, the fraction that studied Turing machines before any language ? Well, I don't think I

This guy is mistaking "poor people skills" with "being an asshole". I'm not sure whether the two are so clearly related : there are a few different manifestations of lack of social skills, and there are jerks who don't have much social skil

I definitely agree with you on the one sided part.. I'm less concerned by the fact that Google handled the data over US agencies than by the fact that the EU doesn't seem to have made any objections. Whether it's because the EU doesn't care

Fwiw, you can't signup for Google+ giving a birthdate that says you're under 18. It might not prevent young teenagers from coming, but it says something of the expected audience, from Google's point of view.

The article points to http://onefps.net/post/6496478249/50-percent-of-iphone-owner... which tells a somewhat different story. One article sources "A little bird" and the other its own customer base. I wouldn't take neither as a definitive

If I am using lynx, chances are high that I know some things are not going to work anyway. I don't need google to tell me this. And in many cases (not for Google+, I think they rely too much on js.), some things will work. Plus, there is

This is easier said than done. I'd like to think I learned not to expect anything from anyone, apart from very close persons. And I think it fits in the rational part of how I see things. But even if I act and prepare myself to cope with pe

I suspect this would only be reasonably applicable if you manage to reduce disk accesses to the very minimum. I'm not very familiar with these setups, but I assume they slow down disk accesses quite a lot.

Any chances this is the operation behind the Pinboard.in (and friends) servers being seized ? That would at least somehow explain the "don't want to take any chances and take the whole racks" part.

I don't think there a is a verb in French. We're stuck to 'search on google'('chercher sur Google'), mostly (I think) because the verb wouldn't sound nice. I'm not sure I've ever heard it in the media, but I never really paid attention in t
