We won't know for sure until there's actual law or court decisions to reference, but until then, it's worth looking at something like the Monkey Selfie copyright dispute[1] for guidance. The article references a 2014 opinion

I would say reading 15-20 pages in a sitting is a great start, actually. I would suggest not trying to figure out how to read more, but rather to build a habit of reading more often. A daily habit of 15-20 pages a day will have you reading

I noticed this too. I think the charitable way to read this is: "The average survey respondant who is part of a 4-founder startup" and that the survey was biased towards responses from founders with larger equity stakes in their c

Doreen has been around on HN for a lot longer than this account. She's definitely one of the OGs. I would believe 12 years, that's about how long I've been here and I don't remember a time when she was not a member.

I downvoted you and wanted to tell you why. In this story someone just shared an experience of being in deep pain, psychologically and physically. While you may not intend to be mean, your response boils down to "you didn't feel e

I don't think you understood his points. When he talks about the "kingdom of nouns" he's not complaining that the problem with "Manager" classes is that they're hard to name. Instead, the argument is that

Another important piece of advice. I see elsewhere in this thread that you've "applied for a couple jobs." Given that you don't have any professional connections right now, you're probably going to need to apply for

It's probably not a great idea to show up in person and ask for an interview. That doesn't mean that you need to go through their bureaucracy to get a job though! For any company that you're interested in, I would recommend t

I'm really curious, I write a lot of python, and find myself wishing for sum types all the time. How do you see inheritance filling the same space? I'd love to be able to do something like: data Choices = Good | Bad | Ugly

It doesn't say it in the article, but they were actually stealing the power. Therefore it's non-news... just something that would happen in every in any country when the thieves get caught.

This library is actually doing that under the hood. It loads your dataframes into an in-memory sqlite database as tables and then passes your queries along.

It has been much more difficult in the past, as recently as 2013, there were a number of different tools competing to be the standard method of packaging python. It's pretty smooth sailing at this point. I actually gave a lightning tal
