You don't even need to capture a photon coming from the object. Shoot a red laser at a couple of non-linear crystals to split the photons into a red/infrared entangled pair. Now, send the infrared ones through the object and into

Night vision uses the photoelectric effect to translate a few photons from the lens into a picture you can see. It doesn't change the frequency of incoming light - it absorbs it and transmits an electron. Basically you are carrying aro

Without fire you need to huddle together to keep warm. That becomes interesting when there are no clothes involved. Language becomes unnecessary at that point. :)

The human brain is incredible at making connections and finding patterns. When you feed more and more information into the brain and think about it the potential for better, more accurate and more profound connections increase. You see an a

Look at it like this: Suppose you made a comment on an internet forum that people got very upset about but it turns out there is no edit button so you can't change it. Would that piss you off? Would it make you feel like you are being

Fusion does not have the same problems as fission does, they are very different. A fission plant produces radioactive waste that needs to be transported to a safe site and then stored for thousands of years. In the case of fusion only the r

You'd want to keep some of those people around though. Computers are great for detecting anomalies and known patterns but you need the human brain to invent new patterns to look for. Of course, sometimes a brain will invent a really we

Yes, everything can be questioned including this theory. I'm saying that focusing our efforts on all the different ways we could be wrong doesn't really help us move forward. So it would be "silly" to spend our time on t

I have a hard time taking this site seriously. Most popular project in the chemistry section seems to be a hand drawn picture of a cat. The entire site seems very focused on gigantic thumbnails instead of, you know, comments. I file it unde
