It is really funny to hear these types of statements when if you could go back and look at what fans were saying about the Peter Jackson movies, they are largely the same. People complaining about deviations from the source material. The be

Agreed. I think they should have made an effort to be _more_ different than the movies. The LotR trilogy, for many fans, has passed into a kind of mythological state of reverence. When they decided to make a show that followed in the same v

Nobody should argue that the show is accurate to the source material. However, this article hides behind a veil of "fact" to really just complain about the things they don't like the show. There are huge gaps of knowledge abo

It has been a long time since a subtitle on an article immediately soured me on it as much as this one did 5 seconds after I opened the article. Has there been an "everybody is listening" style hit since Serial? No. And I strongly

I think the theory of this article is fine, but the solution of sacrificing weekend time with family to eek out some time for work goals feels bad to me. It also involves pushing more child care onto the partner in the relationship, when it

I think the best way to hand that stuff off to your children is to wait until they get to a point where they hand off can happen, when they are adults, and then hand them a highly curated set of photos on a USB drive and let them do with it

I wonder what the future of Substack looks like, I have seen that they have been trying to push into the podcast space recently. I wonder if they continue to broaden the content they support and just slowly morph into a Patreon type site wh

I definitely like the UI, speed, and the simplicity. The two things that will prevent me from actually using it for my pods are the much discussed VST support and the lack of ability to select a range and mute the selection. The second is a

These articles seem to pop up from time to time, and the persons numbers seem roughly accurate in my experience. In my experience Patreon has been around 11% cut scenario, split very roughly between Payment Fees and Platform fees. But I am

I think this is very much a uniquely American article and comment. I believe in many other nations the situation is different on both sides. Postdocs are treated different and get more pay, junior developers get paid less.

The simple answer for this is probably just that the vast majority of people are not looking at the screen while listening, which probably makes it hard to make a business case for it to happen.

I feel like Tweetdeck fixes 99% of the UI problems with Twitter, even in a mobile browser. UI clean of suggested tweet garbage, pure chronological feed, just a more compact view, the list goes on and on.

It is interesting that they do not discuss age at any point in the article. My expectations would be that younger generations are much less religious, and so the 3-in-10 being unaffiliated is mostly due not to current trends but simply due

This is a great response. I often describe this as the 'video game tech tree' problem. It is very easy to know where to put time/resources when you know what the next step of the tech tree is and how it will help solve proble

On your first question the major problem was not necessarily speed, which did improve a bit for example the French Renault FT could make a bit over 4mph, but instead endurance. They were never able to solve the range and reliability problem
