Focusing on the rollout and QA process is the right thing to do. The bug itself is not particularly interesting, nor is the fix for it. The astounding thing about this issue, is the scale of the damage it caused, and that scale is all due t

No one wants to de-orbit anything, because of the small chance that it hits something important on the ground, and the added fuel cost, it's easier and cheaper to just leave things in a graveyard orbit. Maybe if starship achieves it&#x

This was apparently caused by a faulty "channel file"[0], which is presumably some kind of configuration database that the software uses to identify malware. So there wasn't any new kernel driver deployed, the existing kernel

This isn't a windows issue. For what it's worth, I've had plenty of problems in the past with kernel panics from crowdstrike's macos system extension, although it was fairly random, nothing like today's issue.

So the point of this is just to cache secrets, to avoid caching them in your app memory? Seems like kinda a niche threat model, if your app is already compromised to the point where it's secret cache can be read, it seems likely that t

I had started working on something very similar to this, a higher level wrapper for quickjs-emscripten. quickjs-emscripten is great, but it's API is deliberately very close to quickjs's C API. It can be quite difficult to use di

Apparently when you sell a vulnerability to a broker, the payment will be a structured settlement spread out over some period of time. I'm not sure what the valuation for a KVM bug would be, or over what period it would be paid, but I

Yeah, until any details are provided, I would just assume that the ISP already requires that users install some kind of software, and they just pushed the malware through that program.

A large system like the Skyshield, is vulnerable to artillery, you can't really deploy it near trenches and fox holes. FPV drones can fly low, at tree level, it's not going to have line of sight to be able to shoot them down. If y

The reason I'd like to see a smaller system, isn't primarily due to cost, but so that the system could be deployed closer to where it's needed, and in volume. The Skynex 35 mm cannon is massive, requires a truck to transport,

The press release talks mostly about sensors and software integration. It also mentions end-effector systems, Andruil's Anvil system[0], and Rheinmetall's "high-power guns", which I guess refers to Skynex[1]. The public

Easiest way to make something faster, is to start with something very slow. Working with deno using intellij's deno language server support[0] is extremely frustrating, slow and missing features, compared to it's normal TS/JS

Typically you would use cloudfront with S3 if you want to use it for serving web assets. It will cache frequently accessed assets, and in addition to reducing latency may reduce cost quite a bit.
