So you didn’t even get to the final boss, purchasing a sub. While I played it I always had this dirty feeling imagining what the backend code must look like. Sends chills down my spine.

Anyone who has attempted to play Final Fantasy XIV beyond the free trial has experienced this. Their subscription management web app is so incredibly bad it takes a significant amount of time and effort just to purchase a subscription. I

I hope so. I fancy myself pretty decent at reading. I see the Japanese sites and marvel at the amount of information they have available at a glance. I’m so sick of having to scroll 5 page lengths on western sites just to get to any meaning

This is a huge ask. Most of us are just nerds that find the technical aspects interesting, a hobby during our spare time.

Why do people get so mad that other people enjoy a language? If I’m more likely to rewrite some tooling because of the existence of a programming language and it’s more performant, isn’t that good for everyone? We are programmers we are sup

This is meta so sorry about not actually responding, but thank you for a very well written comment. In this time of slop and rage it's really refreshing to see someone take the time to write (long form for a comment) about something th

Bluesky proved no such thing. Merge bluesky with truth social and you’d be back to the same thing again. Both platforms are just full of people retreating into smaller bubbles, the underlying issues are still there just less common.

Question: how many people do you think would watch your short form ai videos if they had to actually seek them out and choose to watch them? The reason why the format is problematic is because it feeds off the dopamine hit of scrolling to t

This. If people are looking for freedom, the thing to do is to stop using TikTok or anything like it, not to make a federated version of it.

Seems pretty readable to me. The information density is high, there are slight box shadows in interactive elements. We need more like this.

How so? If coding is largely solved and we are on the cusp of not even needing to learn to code, then the statement that they use electron because it’s what most of their engineers are familiar with seems a little contradictory.

Why does it need to be cross platform? If code was free there would be a native app for each platform using its respective toolkit, not QT.

Didn’t you say coding is a solved problem? So why are you still reaching for the lowest common denominator tech stack?

I talked to an apple engineer at a bar years ago and he said they aren’t allowed to work on _anything_ including side projects without getting approval first. Seemed like a total wtf moment to me.

So we make excuses for apple because that’s how it used to be back in the bad old days? This is flawed logic. As for alternatives, there are many.
