I like my instinct, but Garmin is so locked down, less hackable than even an Apple Watch.

I see you edited out the part where you made fun of the author using Lua and then called them stupid. It’s a bad look, especially using all that space to paste a script that could be reduced to 5 lines, which is pretty typical of the slop t

You called the parent unintelligent yet need an LLM to show you how to run curl in a loop. Yikes.

Does it need to be efficient if it’s easy? I wrote a similar tool except it’s not a performance tarpit. The goal is to slightly modify otherwise organic content so that it is wrong, but only for AI bots. If they catch on and stop crawling t

The ability to use django is the main attractor. The other frameworks are great but make you reinvent Django if you require auth, orm, admin, etc

The small nature of irc is a benefit in my opinion. Theres a certain type of person that only seeks out the place with the biggest audience, and they are notably absent now. Way fewer trolls too. Libera is super cozy these days.

I just got sucked down the rabbit hole looking at all the super low pop servers here: https://www.ircdriven.com/networks/list/ definitely some interesting looking stuff, very esoteric websites. Cool.

Ad blockers are going to need to become really advanced once chat bots start outputting sponsored answers or other injecting product recommendations into their usual output.

Why would they need a rewrite? Blink is the market leader. Meanwhile daily driving gecko becomes a worse experience by the hour.

I’m pretty sure if Firefox started beating chrome in speed benchmarks (because of a newer, more modern engine) they would be able to claw back some of their lost market share. Even normal people care about speed.

True, I guess investing in the future viability of your core product doesn’t fit with how modern corporations are run. They should just keep launching bookmarking and vpn services that might make money RIGHT NOW.

Of all projects for Mozilla, the supposed champions of the web, to abandon, it still blows my mind that they chose Servo to be the one to lay off the entire team for.

What does "doThing" do? I can't tell by reading. The above examples, while maybe slightly verbose, are completely self contained!

I’ve been bitten so many times with the app/page router thinking I was looking at docs for one but I was actually looking at them for the other. So annoying.

Why does it have to be a separate language? You can serve templates with javascript, thus it works just fine with HTMX. I think you have some fundamental misunderstanding.

Maybe encryption isn't important for you, but it is for some people, especially professional athletes. Imagine a Tour De France rider or their follow car being able to read the heart rate of their competitor - this could easily inform

Garmin is probably the biggest company in this space, and their answer was ant. I’m not sure if you’ve tried to do any integration work with Garmin, but it’s an atrocious experience. What little they do open up is locked behind business agr
