Wow so “Linux didn’t get it for 25 years because the glibc maintainer is a jerk” is an oversimplification??? Shocking.

The fact that they have released both features within 3 months of each other is mind boggling. Their development velocity is insane. These are not trivial features. Give them some time to polish, jeez.

Zed is written in Rust by a bunch of Rust lovers so it's really got first class support for it.

I’ve heard this many times before but I’ve never heard an argument that rebukes the plain fact that text is extremely expressive, and basically anything else we try to replace it with less so. And it happens that making a von Neumann machin

I felt the same thing about the onboarding. Like what future are we trying to build for ourselves here, exactly? The kind where instead of sitting down with a coworker to learn about a codebase, instead we get an ai generated PowerPoint to

Blows my mind how slow OSX still is, there is perceptible lag in almost every interaction during the gif in the blog post. Opening the "properties" dialog looks like it takes > 1 second. It's 2025, we have amazing processo

I agree with most of your argument but I do think security is somewhat special. You can vibe code an entire mess and it'll still "work". We've seen this already. As good as LLMs are they still write overly verbose, slopp

It’s not about being American, it’s that having a brain so cooked as to believe in total conspiracy theories AND being a HN regular/developer used to be mutually exclusive.

I thought it worked in the original trilogy because it was much more subtle, but still powerful. You watch Luke struggle to harness it over the span of 3 movies. In the recent Disney movies (Andor being the exception) it’s like they gave ev
