I guess we all now just realize the truth: you don't control your iPhone. Apple does. You merely use it. In a way, nothing changed. Apple could've done on-device scanning forever. In another way, everything changed. I'm not

There are high quality apps, maybe more than ever. Maybe not on the Mac, but for iOS. In my experience, people actually pay for quality, even more than they used to. Back in the say, an app was like 99 cents. Nowadays, most apps are way mor

I wouldn't over-/underestimate the support capabilities of a big corp like Apple. I remember the Twitter account takeover hack a year ago, which was possible only because customer support had some 2FA-bypass: https://en

If it’s just a list or hashes, any possessor of CSAM could simply modify a few pixels to make it no-matching, no? How "flexible" is the matching? And if it is flexible, what about false positives? What if I have a pictured of my n

There’s a nice SciFi book about this: one person got incredibly rich, because he invented artificial trees that capture a lot of CO2. Good book, unfortunately only available in German: https://www.goodreads.com/en/book&

You don’t need to read fabricated facts if you simply can follow Elon on Twitter. If you put down the rose-tinted glasses, you see that he puts out a lot of dumb stuff and many lies.

I liked the post. It is clearly aimed at people who think that we are close to achieving AI and that AI "knows best". It might be obvious for most people here on HN that we are very far away from true artificial intelligence, but

Still, it makes sense to take the chances for another 500 years, work on making our lives on planet Earth more habitable and sustainable and then invest in space faring tech. The chances of being wiped out by a super volcano or asteroid imp

So many gurus right now make a ton of money from the IF (intermittent fasting) craze. You CAN make money off fasting. Sell books and courses. Promise a lot etc.

Care to share a few examples? I know this feeling of the idea of doing them . I'm conflicted about art (drawing, painting). In some way, I want to be a good painter, on the other hand, there is no painting in me that needs to come out

Because if you drop out of the work force, you get a different perspective. There's painting and music and they are a good contrast to your work, a good way to spend time not thinking about work. But if there is only painting and music

In your other comment, you wrote in a kinda magic-wishful-thinking way "you can only get pregnant if you really want kids". That is a contradiction to baby = egg + sperm. If a woman has sex without some kind of fertility awareness
