While there are for sure a lot of programming jobs that don't touch anything "important", like making dime a dozen websites or apps, I think you underestimate the number of things that need some form of higher quality control

It might be fine for some, but it is an accessibility issue. Just like some people can't deal long term with either light mode or dark mode (and some are fine with both).

And yet, KDE Plasma is so more usable than Gnome these days, because they swung too far into removing settings. You needed to install a separate Gnome Tweak tool to even be able to change font antialiasing settings last I looked, which is p

Looked through it. I'm only considering things while they owned it. For example, Github was pretty good until Microsoft made them migrate to Azure. Uptime has been bad since. Several of the games are good, but those were mostly made by

The kernel is okish. But compared to Linux it is surprisingly bad at a number of things. Handling lots of tiny files in huge directory trees is much slower on Windows than Linux for example. I dont know if that is due to NTFS vs ext4/b

Arguably Sweden (and possibly the other Nordic countries too) are even better places to live (or at least equally good). Well, as long as you can stand the climate and the lack of sun in the winter. We have right to roam in nature here, whi

Not OP, but I have, and I'm not impressed. Perhaps it would be good if you are doing things in the training data (like churning out yet another bland website). But if you are doing things that are not well represented in publicly avail

Reading the linked bug report about executable stacks they fixed it? So they did the right thing. I'm not saying there will never be bugs (no non-trivial software is bug free), but as long as those are handled correctly that seems reas

Glibc is backward compatible though, they even have symbol versioning to provide multiple versions of the same symbol. So as long as you have the same or a newer version of glibc (than what was built against) you should be good to go. And

Something like Anubis in front of the server to protect it might be an option. It sucks that we have to resort to that yes, but it seems the least bad option currently (better than the entire internet going through Cloudflare at least).
