Agreed, but I really feel like this time, the public vaguely understands and has more of a stake in it than before. Now, keep in mind, this is just as important to the day-to-day user as it was in the cypherpunk days, but now, everyone has

Totally correct. However, it may fly just fine with Ubuntu's "just install a damn Linux and get the app online" crowd. Ubuntu makes Linux easy to install and maintain, and that could be enough for some users. They only need o

It's so funny that this is the way it's become, as Atlassian grew up being the cheaper, simpler alternative to extremely expensive, super opaque, ultra closed source systems like Clear Case. I remember a time when Atlassian actual

Combat is, frankly, one of the greatest videogames ever made. Easily in the top ten. If you don't understand why, you've missed out on a great deal of history. The Atari 2600 was designed, almost exclusively, to play Combat. It ha

A friend of mine in a communal living situation once got sick and stayed in his room for days. We did not see him at all, and his door was closed. The den mother of the place, a SUPER paranoid woman, kept telling us to leave him be, let him

While this guy maybe went about saying it wrong, he has a point. There really is no other place on Earth that puts up with the level of homelessness we see here in the Bay Area. New York, Boston, Chicago, none have anywhere near this many h

All iOS issues with Google software, I suspect, have more to do with Apple being dicks to Google than with Google fucking up. Remember, Apple is really trying hard to rid iOS of all Google programs. Remember Apple Maps?

Very true statements. However, those were growing pains. I feel like Apple's problem now is that it has completely given up on its overarching philosophy: to make software simple. Instead, they're just offering us their own versio

I think a lot of people have also been burned by utterly crap cheap tablets. There are thousands of sub $100 tablets, and I don't think any of them are worth while. Some are downright off-putting in their uselessness and lack of speed.
