Whale Communications, before they were purchased by Microsoft, had a hardware solution where a shared HDD disk was used to physically switch it between 2 different hosts to enable file sharing in a shared directory. would be almost perfect

In addition to all the other arguments here, I have a problem with your assertion that Paypal is run by smart geeks. a) I think its a common knowledge that it is actually run by business pointy heads b) their API and dev environment are so

Just like I commented on the original incident report post, I think systems like Redis are not suitable to work as a db for payment processing and transaction storage. Reading through the report I can't imagine something like this happ

How about "request takedown of something you do not own and all your takedown requests will be hand-checked for a month" which will put a reasonable and significant delay into processing. The law doesn't mandate immediate aut

Now I wander if Heroku prices will follow or if they'll decide to just pocket the difference themselves.

Any argument involving price seems to completely ignore TCO. We are using Heroku for most of our needs and suggest it to all our clients and we couldn't be happier to pay the premium over "expensive" AWS. We save a lot on IT and maintenance
