Through folk etymology, it has been claimed that André-Marie Ampère used the symbol in his widely read publications, and that people began calling the new shape "Ampere's and". [3]

Touché. I think this would be the stealth modes in browsers to "shop for presents". Sure, everyone who makes it says it's for one thing, but everyone knows it's for another.

Your screenshot was kind of confusing because it gets cut off. I thought it was part of the page and that the text on the right was cutting of the text on the left. I'd remove the target="_blank" on the "try a demo" link just because I, per

Here's a quick mockup of a possible redesign for the home page. I'd make the book thumbnail bigger than I put it at, but you get the idea: http://i.imgur.com/Xqy7r.png

First thing I noticed: "What Does It Do?" I wasn't really sure right away what it did. I found the "How Bookhu Works" box, but at first glance I thought it was an ad so I didn't even look at it. My recommendation would be to put a small tag

"What Is It You Do Again?" This one is always a big pet peeve of mine. Taglines need to describe what you do, not how awesome you are. I hate seeing ones like "Together. Create. Share." or whatever. I'd much prefer "Create slideshows with a

Not really. If the terms were actually "Gives us $99 dollars and we'll consider you" then you would be correct. However the terms are "Use our $99 service and we'll consider you." It's not the price to be considered, it's the price of a Pro

In briefly checking out the profiles of the accounts I'd say that at least 2/3rds of the "i cant login this sux" comments were legit. Most of the accounts commenting like that were middle aged women with many friends and a profile picture.

Like others have said it's a bit confusing to figure out what it does right away. I think a demo video might be in your best interest. I read this and it was kinda helpful: http://blog.procasts.co.uk/2009/03/why-screencast-if-a-pictu... Y

The "Wedding Planning" button made me think that's what it did. I thought "cool idea, they should show that in more places". Then when I clicked the Categories tab I found out that that's just an example. Or I could be wrong about that too,

I like to scan the newest page for Ask HN: Review my startup ______ posts. They don't seem to make it to the front as often and I find them immensely interesting. I also scan the newest page after I'd digested all the stuff I find interesti

I think this may fall into the "chocolate covered broccoli" thing that was mentioned but I've always thought this would be a good idea for studying: make a fun turned based RPG that asks you study questions whenever you attack or defend and

One of the biggest complaints I hear about Firefox is the startup time. I startup Firefox twice a day normally - once at work and again at home - so it's definitely an issue for me.

Pretty cool idea. How are you getting the info from TVRage.com? If you're doing a cURL type web scraping then you might want to check out if you're even allowed to do that. Definitely add show times, like your friend said. Are you planning

I've actually been thinking of doing something like this for a while. I think the market is there, but I don't think it's SaaS providers. I think you should start looking at web games and social games. Also take a look at Facebook games. Th

Yeah I thought about codecanyon. It could work for me, but when you start out Envato (who runs codecanyon) gets a %60 cut. I'll definitely look into that more though, could be worth it.

Well it wouldn't just be a UI box plugin for sale. It would include the backend for editing and managing all your help text and FAQs. I'd also really like to put in search, and possibly an "ask a question" form. I'm sure a lot of people wou

Judging from my group of friends, most people who use Facebook do not use Gmail. I'm not sure how well this transfers to the rest of the world, but for almost all of my Facebook friends, none of them will hear of Buzz through Gmail.

This is pretty cool. If you're afraid you can't compete with HOAR, maybe you could aim for a specific niche? I'd work on scanability on the home page. I'd make the unordered lists larger, with a bolder font to draw my attention to them. I'm

I really like the design. Good choice for the logo, looks great. I really think the Timeline editing page could use some Ajax/Dialogs. Instead of going to a new page for "Add Event" and "Add Layer", I think a dialog box popping up with the
