"So you are saying that X is not worth it if X is crap?" I am because it needs to be heard. Like I said, too many devs treat writing tests as a goal unto itself.

E2E tests aren't worth it if they produce false positives and don't prevent defects from reaching production. By definition. Too many devs treat automated testing as a goal in and of itself.

Thanks this, this is great to know. If I can ask, do you self-host as part of an organization, or using your own personal setup? I'm thinking about how authorization, data storage, backups etc. would work for your use-case.

Hey, thank you. There is no self-hosted version as such, but there is Ilograph Desktop ( https://www.ilograph.com/desktop/index.html ), which is non-SaaS and works with local diagram files. You can then check your diagra

To each their own. To me return !!val ? val \* 10 : val; and return val.map(x => x \* 10); are equivalent. They're both confirming the presence of a value before using it. And callers of both main/mainWithOptions

I distinctly recall in CS102 being taught classes with the bicycle example. I'm glad I'm not the only one who was confused by that.

It's rarer these days, but there are still plenty of devs who don't think static types are important.

Yeah, I'd say giving up 50% of your equity is a pretty far cry from outsourcing.

+1 for declarative syntax. Diagrams-as-code is great, but diagramming in a programming language (e.g. Python) is... weird.

For diagrams that are long-lived and refactorable, diagrams-as-code is really your only option. Changing complex diagrams with drag-and-drop interfaces is a nightmare.

> when you need to make remote changes to a box This isn't something you do in CS ever. If you want to learn a technical skill like system administration or git, great. It isn't CS though.

Thanks for sharing this. If I may ask, would Ilograph (diagramming tool I made) alleviate the two issues you've raised? It aims to show cross-cutting dependencies via perspectives, and has an interactive layout to make complex perspect

Ilograph fulfills 2 out of 3: diagrams are broken up into a model (resources) and perspectives (their relations). The layout is always automatic, though. As a plus, though, this allows them to be interactive and dynamic. Disclosure: I'

Missing Ilograph: https://app.ilograph.com/ It's heavier-duty compared to most of the others you have listed, but should appeal to engineers who want something more robust.
