In this case you're probably right but in general, latency can make a big impact on profit and revenue. For example Marissa Mayer claimed (though this was in 2006) that a 500ms delay directly caused a 20% drop in traffic and revenu

It's not necessarily false. The quote you took seems to be referring to the homeless in California. The Giving Pledge requires that the money be given to philanthropy, which may improve the lives of others around the world, rather than

I'm a fan of Matrix (matrix.im). Encrypted (recently), federated, multi device, multi platform, has message history, voice, attachments and push notifications. Pretty much everything I've wanted.

Interesting that your site doesn't work at all without allowing third party scripts. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before, hosting the entire page on another domain.

I don't think this has anything to do with non-free blobs. They knew exactly what it did and they installed it anyway. It wouldn't have mattered if they had the source or the rootkit was open.

For me it's pretty much all package management: - I like that all the packaging stuff is done by a single command (yum, or more recently dnf). - I find RHEL derivatives' packaging conventions easier to deal with than Debian deriva

Also not OP but the aim of an interview question isn't to tell if the candidate can produce the right answer, it's to see how the candidate produces any answer. The process to get to the answer matters far more tha

In my experience the alternative firmwares were worse. I ended up contacting TP-Link support and they were actually quite helpful though. They sent me a beta firmware that's mostly resolved the issues. I don't know if it's be

It does but it's extremely cumbersome if you have densely tagged images, as you need to send each image once per tag. Plus I believe there's a limit to the size of a ZIP.

Others have mentioned practical issues like performance but there's also cost. When you're actually using a lot of capacity and doing so pretty consistently, Amazon is extremely expensive compared to dedicated hardware.
