My selection of ISPs is local, but so is my selection of power companies, housing, heck, even grocery stores. I choose my ISP on primarily non-local considerations, so I don't think it's quite as cut and dry as you state. (i.e.

ISPs are the very opposite of local, as the only reason I have an ISP is to deliver bits from the rest of the world. Of course, the FCC doesn't seem to understand that...

So the protocol issues are not to do with the scaling, but with the fact that the choice was made, early on, to support node.js as the primary implementation language, and little thought was put into the protocols from that point on. It&#x

Yeah, no, I think code with braces looks better.... Objective asthetics? As far as I'm concerned, the tabs vs. spaces debate has basically proven that it doesn't exist for programming languages... (I'm rabidly pro-tabs, by

For me, the process is "just write the braces, the editor/tooling will do the formatting for you", so no difference.

Scuttlebutt has a lot of work to do before I'll consider it as even approaching usable, mostly to do with the protocol layer. It works great for very small (<1000 member) communities, but it scales extremely poorly, and the protoco

I think they are saying, "diff your release branch against what's live", in the hopes of catching "someone hacked your server and changed your JS" early.

Linux frame buffer is perfectly capable of doing 2 pages and "flipping" without memcpy. Just have it initialize a double height virtual screen, and then use a panDisplay IOCTL to swap between them.

Yeah, but linux framebuffer can do a very optimal swap... Just make the "virtual buffer" twice as tall, and then swap which "half" is "active" with a panDisplay IOCTL... That's why memcpy is such a bad i
