Have you used OBS? It’s not just “streaming software” it’s a software audio video mixer.

This is incorrect. For example, this happens all the time to celebrities. Someone takes their photo in public and sells it to magazines who publish the photo on the cover. They receive no money and have signed no release.

Purchasing a manuscript doesn’t give you the copyright to it. So it would be you that needed a separate contract in this example.

Something I learned when working on the Sonic the Hedgehog movie is that SEGA doesn’t own that ring sound. They have a license to use it in video games but it’s owned by a 3rd party. It had to be relicensed for use in the movie.

The majority of filming that happens in Colorado and New Mexico is done by crews that belong to IATSE Union locals. Acted in by SAG-AFTRA members and written and directed by DGA and WGA members. You don’t know what you are talking about. Pr

That’s not really how it works. Copyright is less about process than result. For example, a human can—-completely from memory—-draw an entirely new image and it can be found to be infringing on an original. Similarly if I took someone else’

I think you are misunderstanding what a derivative work is and what is required for something to be considered one. Read the examples in the link you posted. Many of these don’t incorporate a literal direct copy of the underlying work.

Lots of posters here seem to fundamentally misunderstand the basics of copyright protection and derivative works. So many replies about the example here not being an “exact copy” and therefore “obviously” not deserving of protection. I wond
