just mentioning that Humankind got fixed up and it's a fantastic and innovative take on Civ. The reviews don't do it justice.

This is great - we needed a model where we're sure it won't reproduce someone's code with an incompatible license.

The 23% cut the platform takes is killing the value proposition, what am I missing? We're currently self hosting our bounties ( https://mudlet.org/bounty ) and that is working out alright.

Not just Kazakhstan but Australia has uranium, and excess electricity can be sold (as it already is). I'm all for renewables, but the arguments against nuclear aren't all that ironclad. I'm glad the author posted their point

The feature to load a % to the GPU is novel and amazing! I couldn't get the project up and running myself (requires a nightly rust build) but I love this particular innovation.

Were you able to use it in VS Code as an assistant? As far as I see, it just offers a stand-alone HTML page for coding in.

This makes me glad to have chosen an nvidia gpu on linux. You get a whole lot of hidden benefits / QoL improvements that just aren't there with amd and nobody really mentions.

I've got a hunch that AI will be able to put Hyrum's Law ( https://www.hyrumslaw.com ) to good use in the future: given an application, generate unit tests for all documented and undocumented behaviours of the system. Do

Hey HackerNews community! Are you a fan of online text-only games (MUDs)? Then you might be familiar with Mudlet - the open-source MUD client that makes playing these games even more enjoyable. Mudlet is written in C++17 and Qt5, and runs o

Qalculate! is my favourite GTK and Qt-based calculator that's great at accepting all sorts of inputs, even solving for X: https://github.com/Qalculate/qalculate-qt

Does this mean that with big enough compute capacity - say, Petals https://github.com/bigscience-workshop/petals which distributes the model over the internet over GPUs - we can run LLAMA?

True, and that's why there is a project that is using volunteered, distributed GPUs to run BLOOM/BLOOMZ: https://github.com/bigscience-workshop/petals , http://chat.petals.ml .

I run an open source project and we're channelling out finds into PayPal. What's a good alternative to switch to?

How good is the quality of this? BLOOM is a 176B parameter model, but it doesn't seem to compare to GPT-3 (175B parameters) in terms of output quality.

This is a shame, Keybase's future is looking increasingly rocky. Has anyone got alternatives for team-based secrets sharing in an open-source project? Github secrets is one place but that's a one-way, write-only street.

Doesn't seem to be working - an alternative is to use https://tinybots.net/artbot/interrogate , which is a front-end to the crowdsourced https://stablehorde.net network.

Premium pricing. I would have been okay with $10/mo, this is pushing it. Let's see how long this lasts and whether they'll introduce a lower tier.

Depends on how you merge - I prefer squash (yes, controversial). If you do merge commits, then I agree individual 'why' needs to be within the commit.

In my way of working, the 'why' can go into the overall PR and the 'what' into the individual commits. Both are important - the reason for changes and a concise summary if what you've done.
