They're a sacrifice at the altar of biased decision making. I think Tesla is somewhat reckless with self driving, but we all need to agree humans aren't much better and don't generate any controversy.

If you're building everything singlehandedly, then you have leverage over your employer and investors. You should use that leverage to renegotiate your pay. You'd lose nothing because you're considering quitting anyways.

Note that Huang was the founder of Nvidia - he's not a naked ladder climber like Pichai or Krzanich at Intel previously. Huang made good moves with CUDA, being early on tensor cores by being forward looking. That said, Nvidia is sellin

We've used it. It's useful to define the contract between teams. So you have 2 teams do a meeting, we work out a contract we like, dump that into a jsonschema and you can enforce by unit tests that schema is respected on each side

I mean, think about a plumber or a carpenter. Those jobs haven't really been more productive since the 1970s. Sure, PEX or nail guns are marginally better than previous methods, but not by that much. But since we still need plumbers or

It's surprising or meaningful because the parts of the economy that don't get more productive get more expensive as a fraction of overall costs as other things grow. It's surprising because intuitively you'd think those

The name for this is the Baumol Effect [1]. Sometimes called the "cost disease". The only real way to fix it is to increase the relative price of raw materials used compared to labor. Yes, this means government intervention, becau

At the end of the day, if training or doing inference on the ML model is massively more costly in time or compute, you'll iterate much less with it. I also think it's a dead end to try to have foundation models for "time seri

That's not why outsourcing created devastation. The issue without outsourcing is that the benefits are widespread (lower prices!) but the drawbacks are concentrated (factory town is now a hellhole). And our political system is incapabl

Understanding this structure clarifies commercial rent negotiations for business owners: The landlord can't negotiate on rent, but he can negotiate on a ton of other things that are financially equivalent.

Wheelchair users have no bargaining power against wheelchair makers. Car buyers have leverage. Normally this exorbitant price would incentivize competition in a healthy market, but the private equity players presumably make that difficult.
