When I took web design courses they basically told us you effectively have to make two websites - one for IE6, and one for all the other browsers. It came down to a bunch of crazy hacks and conditionals you had to bake in.

I last heavily worked with CSS in 2010/2011. These still don't feel old to me. There came a point where if you wrote good HTML/CSS that passed the W3C validator, you were golden on pretty much any device. This still rings tru

This AI website has very weak sources for many pages. As they said in school (and is still valid here) - Wikipedia is never to be your primary citation. This website commits the sins of citing Wikipedia and ONLY Wikipedia.

What world are you living in where you’re okay with this? Phoned in websites / AI slop is not a good thing. Code something yourself on neocities.

Reminder that Sam Altman is a sociopathic serial liar, nothing within the OpenAI sphere should be trusted.

Double-ended USB A cables were popular in the 2000s/early 2010s for powering external hard drives or USB DVD drives.

USB B cables are also notoriously sensitive and the slightest damage can result in malfunctions. Went through this recently with a PreSonus AudioBox.

I don't use LLMs for coding aside from minor suggestions. They've also gotten far worse in quality in the past year (GitHub Copilot especially. It went from "oh this has promise" to "I could hire a 12 year old to do

The statement becomes very true and very real once LLMs are applied to physical objects in the physical realm such as anthropomorphic robots. LLMs are too weak security-wise to be contained.

This article says nothing. In practice, operationally, none of this is solved. Every website/app/platform handles logins differently. Some are still doing SMS 2FA, some still do passwords, some implemented passkeys in the wrong wa

GrapheneOS is also saying some suspicious stuff on Mastodon in which they are failing the vibe check. They are suddenly very AI obsessed, which is the antithesis of their platform. I would recommend being very careful with them.

You still wrote it, processed it in your brain, and reasoned about it. With an LLM you do zero of those things. I don't understand how you don't get that.

Every chat bot has this problem. If you don't tell it to respond tersely and without conversation, it will waste a billion tokens giving you a 5 paragraph manifesto of rambling and useless redundant information.
