I would argue the reason it's powerful is that Vega embraces the Grammar of Graphics as first principles (think ggplot2). It's imo the way to think about graphics, but I may be biased.

It's hard not to get a bit pessimistic about where this is all going, no? It's incredibly frustrating already, that many topics are almost impossible to search for nowadays (just on your favorite search engine). Adding `site:reddi

Yes, it's very different for two reasons: 1) many ideas in science are highly non trivial compared to all sorts of crap that gets patented and 2) as scientists all we usually care about is getting some credit for our ideas. We want t

For me one big use case: avoiding stupid geoblocks on motorsport streams. Often streams are available in countries where the licence has not been sold on Youtube or the websites of the sport itself (sometimes for free, sometimes as a subscr

Maybe things have changed over the years. I've played around with Hy in 2017 and in the end felt like it combines the bad parts of Python with the bad parts of a Lisp. If you're forced to use Python it's usually because of on

While I agree leading by example and using Matrix would be great, it is orthogonal to the proposed law. More importantly, who cares about Moxie's (imo crappy) vision? If this were to force him to rethink his stance, that's a plus

To give my personal impression, as someone who switched to neo [0] about 2 years ago. To be fair I only had about 20 years of QWERTZ & QWERTY experience before that. 1. For me it took about a year or so until I surpassed my QWERTY typin

This is an almost complete non-issue in practice. It sounds like an expectation someone has that hasn't actually switched to a different keyboard layout. I'm typing on neo [0] and it's no problem at all. [0]: https:/&#x

I switched to typing using neo [0] about 2 years ago. The beginning was hard . I went in with a 100% neo from day 1 approach. The second day I had to respond to a mail that would normally take a couple of minutes. Took me like 45 that day.
