That actually sounds reasonable -- you can log-in, decide which photos you want to share and delete the rest. Unless you don't like it using bandwidth or don't like google itself having access to all your stuff.

Problem is mostly with classification. Is ping a hacking tool? Is cmd.exe a hacking tool? (black window sure looks dangerous...) Is g++ a hacking tool? If not, can I carry around source code of a port scanner and a compiler on the same lapt

Isn't Alpha Centrauri one of those "one more move" games where you stop at 4 am in the morning, if only because you are hungry and thirsty and need to go to a washroom? Not very good productivity-wise...

UKash works like that. I don't know implementation details, but you get a number that has some sum of money associated with it and you give that number to the other party and they give you back a new number with change.

No, the prices are before tax. I think there is even a law against showing prices with tax for whatever reason.

"The NAP is the principle, but the philosophy involves recognizing the economic effects of violating the NAP are always worse than respecting it." Why are they always worse? A very contrived example: a company choosing to pay significantly

Interestingly it is almost opposite picture from developer's point of view -- apple breaks things every major release, windows still supports stuff back from win95 days.

Extra binaries for 32bit compatibility probably take most of the space. On my 64bit win 7 install, C:\windows\SYSWOW64 takes up 1.4 gigs.

That is a reasonable position. But only if you wouldn't stuff your pockets full of money should you pass one by while at the same time complaining about all the free-loaders on welfare. I know some people who would do both things without ha

File manager as a developer tool... The very idea makes me want to chase somebody off my lawn, but it does sound plausible. Every time I work with an application that insists on managing things on its own, I can't help but ask "but where _a

Not sure if that's the falsifiability you meant, but a scientific theory _must_ be falsifiable by definition. As in -- there must be a way to setup an experiment with a possible outcome that would prove this theory to be wrong. It is imposs

A lot of people clearly _are_ irresponsible and can't think for themselves. Not sure if government (especially in US) can help here though. US congress recently declared pizza to be a vegetable. Enough said.

What's the purpose of this law? (I would normally expect opposite -- that it is illegal for you to hire them if you can't afford it.)

Those things would only get more frequent and easier as the science progresses. I think the best shot to avoid a major disaster is to progress the science far and fast enough so that the consequences are not that severe. For example getting
