The Amazon vans where I am all are white noise rather than beeping. It's still not great but it's better than the beep.

"a cheap Android phone" A cheap Android phone or a cheap Android phone from a questionable brand/source? The root of the blame here isn't with the fact that it's Android, but more likely what was purchased for him.

It should be called sustainable productivity. The 4 day (4-10's are ok) work week would be a nice start. It's hopefully moving in that direction.

"Once hailed as a ‘handsome’ import, this most rampant of plants has come to be seen as a sinister, ruinous enemy" Those importers should have taken the name "knotweed" into account.

Following the best guess of those with the knowledge and experience is definitely the best best, but I find myself, like most people, questioning their motives. It's healthy to do so but also a sad commentary.

While I do think we have to be wary of the powerful human manipulation tools that AI will produce, they (govt regulators) would never understand it enough to accomplish anything other than stifle it.

It's also OK to go after the shady character spending all its effort manipulating and spying. I get lots of things do their best to do this, but this is the CCP in your living room. There should be a line somewhere.

Just once I'd like to see a company like this sued out of existence. It's not just that they are incompetent with customer data, it's that they essentially forced everyone to give them this info in the first place by default.

I usually look at all the gunk on the mushrooms, and knowing they're grown in a chicken poop mixture, wash them anyway. Probably not better than a good wipe but I can't help myself.

Homeless sweeps in many places in the US result in about 1 in 200 accepting help and the rest telling you to go procreate with yourself. Most by far prefer living in a place where normal rules don't apply. Loans would not be recovered

I use most of the major browsers quite a bit (including Vivaldi) and don't really ever experience crashes. I can't remember the last time I did honestly. They've all gotten really stable from my experience.
