I would imagine the advantages of manager roles are highly context depedent. Being a manager when everything works well is great.

I don't how a IoC container would allow you bypass change control? Because config is not covered by change control in your case?

The problem with unit tests + heavy mocking is that you essentially makes any sort of class reorganisation as a massive pain. I try for sociable unit tests(it's a thing), which classes that are expected to work together 100% of the tim

Most DI frameworks you explicitly pass things in via the constructor. I don't get it.

This is the service locator pattern. Biggist complaint is implicit dependencies, and it's hard to control lifetimes. So this has the advantages and disadvantages of that.

Normally you version your events, uplift or convert a stream to a updated version.

People go out there way to make events the source of truth in non-kafka systems. With a lot of effort involved. It isn't just people being lazy with Kafka. Event sourcing existed before with traditional databases. I came across it in t

The entire point of event sourcing is that it is the source of truth. The sourcing in event sourcing. Otherwise it's not different from a audit log.

Lots of practice, and katas? Try writing tests to match requirements. Try writing tests, then refactoring to see if it doesn't break the test(still compiles)

Why not f#? I would imagine it has good support for discrimated unions which are quite good for representing instruction sets. He wanted a more modern platform than ocaml, or ml. He didn't want to go too deep down into the functional r

The problem is is that most businesses refuse to negotiate on scope once deadlines have been agreed. Getting a manger who is willing to do that is great.

One thing he misses out is that story points, eventually get turned into estimates using velocity. They are estimates, just a different approach based on past history.

In many ways the story points are outside view. You estimate complexity, then you look at how long it took to do stories of simular complexity before.

Who says this? I follow the linux kernel guidelines, which have large descriptions in commits. After all these guys wrote git. Here's linus's take https://gist.github.com/matthewhudson/1475276

I believe there's a standard format for this. The first line is the title, then there's a description. These heavy descriptions of commits, are used quite heavily in linux kernel dev

It's better to have these in with the source control system, When you change or switch to a different ticketing system, you will bring these with you.

In the real world, you end up with logging, ways of progating errors, etc All of which tend to introduce monads. When you have multiple moands on the go you need some combining them.

I find the benefits of abstracting away database, isn't so you can swap. It's that' the high-level business logic does not have any low-level unrelated persistence code in it.

I would read the john backus turing award lecture to see why people have such appreciation of functional programming. In short it's makes it easy to compose things, using a simple core language.

I find story points help, but they aren't perfect. What they avoid is time pressure. I think a lot developers internally and externally feel pressured to reduce the time estimate. Points allow you to be more honest.
