The big parties continually moderate their positions so that about half the population wants to vote for them.

Scaling effects matter. In practice there are many parties but most of the votes go to two of them.

What about an AI that can write unit tests for any codebase… seems like the overall benefit of that would be huge.

I think the problem is that some people seem to just innately like mathematics, they like learning and applying formulas, they don’t need any background context or practical application to find it interesting - and they don’t realise how dr

I'm not going to recap the arguments here, but I suspect twitter is likely to crash hard within the next few days to week or two (at most) and Musk has fired most of the people who can fix it and keep it running. We can revisit this

The Waste Land is amazing but I recommend Four Quartets even more. Which reminds me, one of my goals for this year was to memorise it… better get back to that.

There’s two good things about agile/scrum: breaking work up into manageable chunks; and having daily check-ins to make sure people aren’t doing the wrong thing for months on end. The rest can be ignored.

It would be cool to have a sort of smart home where you can activate an immersive language teaching mode where it will talk to you as you move around the house, naming things you interact with or prompting you for instructions, so that you

Someone was telling me that the killer’s real identity is George Hodel, and Hodel’s son wrote a book about it. They seemed to have a lot of good pieces that fit together.
