FWIW, Microsoft hasn't made an effort to support much of C99 because almost none of their users (Windows and XBox developers) use C. I don't know any Windows or XBox programmers who uses C. Your point is still valid: if you want

Up to some point in the past, MSVC produced better code than GCC, but most recent benchmarks have them roughly equal. MSVC has actually gotten slower in the last couple iterations, but not by a lot.

This is exactly what I was planning on doing one of these days. After looking at CityHash I was sure it could be beat.

Yeah, but in the article author's case, you can't even rely on being able to do that (at least with a landline), due to the severe landline security hole regarding ending of phone calls.

That seems like a severe security flaw in the phone system.

I could imagine falling for the OP's landline hangup ruse, but I can't imagine falling for somebody on the street telling me to type my PIN into their phone, regardless of how they were dressed.

Not great television? It often ranks as one of the top ten sci fi series of all time. It's in my top three. Season 3 and 4 in particular are almost without peer.

Well the bonehead hashcat program is limited to 15 character passwords, so it can't possibly crack mine. The hashcat program software in general is powerful, though pretty crappy from a design standpoint. The current version crashes if any

I like Tesla, but another consideration is that this is a brand new model splash. The 2014 results numbers will be more telling, given that the newness will have worn off a little.

The November CTP is a one-time experimental release. Subsequent formal VC++ updates don't include what it has. So for all practical purposes it might as well not exist.

I've been looking into Solar for my house and it's hard to justify. A $15,000 installation pays back only $150 a month in electricity. This is little more than what I could get by putting that $15,000 into a mutual fund.

Funny you mention this. We are working on support for this right now (today). EAWebKit, used by SimCity, didn't originally have Thai support, and it's being implemented now. I can tell you what it will look like though, as I just took a scr

For a few years Internet Explorer had a monopoly and lots of web sites became dependent on its bugs, quirks, and extensions. A lot of corporations are still stuck due to that.

In the game dev industry we set specific thread affinities to many (sometimes all) threads. Also, gaming OSs (e.g PS3) typically leave a thread on a single CPU in any case.

WebKit is open source, and you can fork it. But you can't make changes to the main version unless they are approved, and Apple is the gatekeeper there.
