What you're saying applies to FireFox of years ago, but that's changed, especially with the big memory cleanup of a year or so ago. It now performs ~equal to Chrome under low stress and better under high stress.

The paper says that C and C++ don't support fixed point numbers, though with C++ you can write a fixed point class that's nearly the same as a native version. However, it would still be nice if C or C++ supported a native fixed po

I think that while those tests do a good job of proving a certain amount of self-awareness, I don't think that a non-reaction by the animal disproves it.

I have this theory that some animals (e.g. cats and dogs) do in fact recognize that mirrors are reflections, but they just don't care about what's in the reflection. We are fascinated by the idea that we are watching ourselves, bu

One of my cats clearly recognizes me in the mirror and understands that the mirror is a reflection of me. I've done tests where I put the cat in front of the mirror and I stand behind the cat. The cat looks at me in the mirror. I pull

I have FireFox 29 and those pages rendered fairly fast for me. Maybe a couple seconds per first viewing of a page, worst case.

I tried loading that and it worked pretty well for me. Not fully native speed, but just a couple seconds to draw complex pages. Certainly not a "throw the computer out the window" experience.

The iPhone5s and iPad Air came out more than six months ago and still trounce all Android competitors in performance. How can you call that unimpressive?

Well it cost them some business, because some companies wouldn't use it due to performing poorly on other processors. I can't see how it would be beneficial for them to cripple AMD performance.

Despite that no real-world quicksort implementations have that worst case (due to fallbacks to other sorts), it seems like it's useful to see the pathological case of pure quicksort anyway.

Too bad it's missing Timsort, which is the fastest stable sort and the standard for some standard libraries.

Everything seems like a nice architecture compared to x86. I do love the PowerPC instruction set though. I'm not a hardware guy, but it always seemed like PowerPC chips underperformed others and ran as hot as hell while doing so.

I think games that use take advantage of high parallelism would do better on the 8 core devices. We just don't see much of that kind of game in the mobile market.

You must be my doppelganger, because I've been saying exactly this for some time. Internet Explorer caused so much trouble partly because it accepted so much bad HTML. It would close tags for you, even.

I think it further indicates that not enough review of the code was done before it was integrated. Dumb variable names like that should be caught at review time.
