Cheeky response w/o actually understanding isn't correct here. Slack's active window sits around that amount on my computer as well, but under the hood it's actually using closer to 670MB with all processes.

That's not what they are ever going to provide, like the parent comment indicated because it isn't their goal. Companies or individuals which need your requirement should/are already using a competitor that does allow you to

Currently reading the book, and could see the zealotry come out, but they mention, repeatedly, that your own systems may not need the level of service that Google built-in, or your teams may not be big enough to justify, etc. I don't t

Completely agree with both points. My PYOD from work was a carbon and total cost with dock and RAM/SSD "requirements" ended up north of $2k. However, it is basically the best work PC I've used.

OP didn't say that it actually had to happen, just that you had to realize it was possible. Many people will not have to experience something drastic like OP seems to have in order to realize it, but some people don't until that p
