Like with any layer of abstraction, you can't mention the complexity it adds without also mentioning the complexity it removes. It has encouraged people to move to a more immutable architecture, which makes many types of common problem

Something can be difficult simply because it's new: there's work in learning the new thing and updating old code even if the new thing is easier than the old thing.

If you use Apple SSO but your email is hosted elsewhere, Apple has introduced themselves as a MITM for your email. Facebook SSO doesn't do that.

There were a bunch of btrfs raid56 patches last year. I think the known bugs have been addressed and is just that the wiki page hasn't been updated. Re obsolete, are you referring to RAID1C3?

Have the mfr pay a small fee when their wrappers end up in the garbage. A little like the deposit on cans but the consumer doesn't have to do anything.

A lot of the slowest stuff on websites are trackers that are being foist on developers to foist on the users (if the developers even have control over the trackers, like with GTM)

Likely because the list of repositories changes infrequently, so it's a better candidate for caching. They serve what then can quickly, quickly, then pull in the naturally slower stuff later.
