Django too seems to make things specially hard for beginners, I'm not sure why that is. I don't mean the getting started part, the doing something useful by yourself part after the tutorial.

I didn't watch the video but I'm pretty tired of this catch phrases, build an iOS app in 10 minutes coming from serious businesses. Any app that was built in 10 minutes is not worth 1 minute of my time.

I know what he meant, but it's not like google is improvising with gmail. The site is already up by the way, it's been years since they have a more than 5 minute downtime. Also, you can never dream of having the same kind of redundancy as g

I like it, for my next hosting company: We don't have downtime, just unscheduled maintenance.

What? If keeping uptime of a server was as easy as wishful thinking, we'd see a lot more of REAL 99.9% uptime.

This is a useful feature by a site a great part of the hn users use sometimes daily, the more points, more visibility. It's an indication of its usefulness.

Thanks! It's actually pretty amazing that in this day and age you interact quite closely to a lot of pretty influential people that some years ago, the equivalent would have been completely un-reachable.

That is in fact a brilliant feature, but the one I like the most is the sending undoing, saved me lots of times. BTW, are you the Google Matt Cutts?

by Trufa 14y ago
Yes, but it's so simple I don't really think you're enlightening criminal minds here.

It looks freaking awesome. I will definitely try it out! Thanks!

Discussion apart, seriously slick landing page IMHO.

Since, it's unavoidable, whenever it happens, if it happens for less than 5 minutes it's a good thing.
555.
by Trufa 14y ago
That's a reasonable time to be down IMHO.

Was it shorter than 5 minutes?

I really love when the companies take time to explain their customers what happened specially in such detail. It's clearly a very complicated setting, and this type of posts make me trust them more, don't get me wrong, and outage is an outa

I'm truly asking, why is that? If the OP found it through TNW (or any other!), I see no reason why not to give credit and traffic to the news provider? You're just a click away, the link is at the beginning of the article and it is not an a

Apple sold 18.65M iPhones in Q2 2011, that's iPhone alone, I think calling Apple's audience homogeneous is ridiculous, and falls under the same as "mac is for designers" old-fashion statement.

I assumed he was being sarcastic. Otherwise it is the worst investigation I have ever witnessed.

I'm not sure why I'm being down-voted, is it frowned upon to complain about that? I'm simply stating that the site is unusable from a popular mobile device. Sometimes the site maintainer reads the thread and he might not be aware.

by Trufa 14y ago
The site is incredibly unfriendly to mobile. You can't use it from an iPhone.

I don't understand you comment. Could you please explain? Sorry, thanks.

I like the minimalist design but I think a volume slider would be nice!

I think the concept is very minimalist on purpose, for something more complete, maybe you will enjoy something like 8tracks...

Coming from a 3rd world country, free Internet sounds like a fiction, my expensive connection is slower than the free one Google is offering! Though I'm happy I will be one of the first homes to have fiber on the country.
