Management is a role with some very domain specific skills, just like many other white collar jobs. If you've studied and trained to do a particular job and then get moved to something else, of course that's going to be difficult.

I think that's a pretty apt description of any sandbox game. Some people find the genre really fun and interesting, but it's really a matter of preference.

The problem with that definition is that it's nearly impossible to apply that to an individual without bias. It predisposes us to assume that the privileges possessed by an individual are one of the primary drivers of the experiences t

So if minorities are discriminated against in the hiring process, they should just stop posting their picture on LinkedIn? That's not a solution. Secondly, what you are suggesting is at complete odds with the realities of our connect

I don't have a problem with that specific definition. The problem that arises is that we sort of assume as a society that certain privileges trump everything else and are the primary drivers in terms of the experience an individual wil

It is not ok to look at someone's gender, age & race and make assumptions about there life, full stop. Applying a term like 'privileged' to an entire group of people based on a single characteristic is stereotyping at it&

It seems like there are some common threads that crop up in these failed kickstarters, especially the ones that require hardware and supply chain knowledge. I wonder if this could present a good opportunity for kickstarter: they could bring

I guess any phone that can store cleartext would be illegal since you could theoretically use a one time pad cipher to encrypt the text.

I agree, it's quite an exciting proposition if we can get a real space plane.

Seems like a really interesting idea. For now I've got my money on SpaceX in terms of decreasing the cost to orbit first, they have the hardware already up and flying, and it's a bit less exotic so the engineering issues may be mo

If SpaceX can recover and re fly the booster staging as they hope to, we should see a marked decrease in cost to LEO. According to their numbers, the booster and engines clock in at 16 million dollars. Normally that's a sunk cost every

Agreed, where this would be tough to implement would be with all the individual programs and their states/settings. I guess you could sort of get around that by running everything in a virtual environment potentially?

By that definition though, anyone who comes out "ahead" on their premium is a freeloader. Perhaps a less charged term is needed? Freeloading sounds like this person has done something morally wrong, when in fact that have just use

Same here. Epic's support for the community of devs who use Unreal is excellent, and they have made sweeping changes to their business model to align it with the needs of their user base which has really helped as well.

The biggest thing I find lacking in desktop UI is the ability to save and switch between states. We need the idea of project 'sessions' where I can open up the software I need to use, pull up the files I need, set my favorite fold

There isn't a technical solution in the world that can prevent end users from writing encrypted text files to their phones using a one time pad. Would all devices that let you store text become illegal under this law?

It's really going to come back to bite them - creating essentially unenforceable laws is a bad idea if you want to maintain the rule of law.

I am pretty excited about this, I could see this being used with an variant of DLP technology to deliver ultra-high resolution and pixel density only to the area of screen you are looking at.

It's not freeloading. The WHOLE POINT of insurance is amortizing risk across a wider range to individuals. If you can correctly predict risk exactly for every single individual then the whole model is pointless.

If you don't feel that the training and culture of LEO has some real problems then I'm not sure we have enough common ground to discuss a solution, to be honest. I do agree that ratings can be gamed and are not a silver bullet tho
