I think a lot of the problems we have with new protocols is that we simply can't add new ports. So many routers simply block anything that's not 80, 443, or 21.

That's one way to look at it. I prefer to adjust to reality rather than hope to change reality to suit my preferences. If people don't like paying for software, then charging money for software is not something I'm going to w

Editing large CSV files is something I do infrequently enough that I'll just use vim or whatever when that need arises. No need to choose my code editor based on that niche use-case.

Hi mholt, I have used Caddy almost since you started it. Great product! My issue with this is that there isn't an affordable license for small non-profit websites (like a person's personal website). I'd gladly pay if it were

My vim process comes to a crawl if I forget to turn off syntax highlighting before opening large files. So I disagree.

I think you're preoccupied by the word "document". There are many ways that applications are catered for. WebSockets are of no use to documents, only applications, as one example.

Thanks, this is not the information I was asking for though. I was asking for the % of new opioid addicts began their addiction from medication prescribed to them.

How often is that though? Is there research on this? What % of new opioid addicts come from doctor prescribed pain medication? I'm genuinely curious.

Reduction efforts have lost. Deniers have successfully turned global warming into an issue of identity politics, not of science. Once something is within the realm of identity politics, there's no going back. We should continue to shou

There are already numerous examples where browsers intervene to stop user-hostile pages. The reason pop-up ads largely don't exist any more is because browsers intervened to kill them.

This is not a legal discussion, no one is saying that the user doesn't have a right to block this behavior. > The historical answer does the same, as browsers were explicitly designated User Agents, as their whole purpose is to act

Sounds like you are advocating for something very different than the current APIs. You're asking that the browser define its own UI for an exit button. How does it know where to put that? What if it is a game in a `<canvas>` elem

Thank you for staying level-headed here. This is indeed a gray area question, and it's worth having a debate over. No one is clearly in the right.

Thanks, I can understand how that might be the case (that many parts are MVIs, as you said). My issues were never with things like networking, it was more that scrolling was really bad, and stuff rendered slowly.

I always find it interesting how people learn so differently. Personally, I learn a language by building something in it. I want a feel for it, before digging deep and learning about theory. I only do that stuff much later, after I'

"Hard" is relative, of course. For small teams without a release engineer, options like Heroku, now, etc. are much easier than what you are suggesting.
