Their size is relevant in so far as it allows them to make really any investment they want to in GHA without it causing a cash flow problem.

I disagree with your other takes in this thread, but you are 100% right here. This is dangerous stuff that needs to be treated with respect. I don't think it should be locked away to just the MFG, but it does need to be respected.

For my home stuff I just use nginx-proxy-manager and haven't thought about it since I set it up a couple of years ago. For work, I used to use certbot directly at my old place. Now I am building my new stuff on k8s, and I have the ingr

One way is to attempt to take some of the profit motive out of housing. You can still have a private housing market while guaranteeing some base level of permanent housing for the entire population who wants it. Doesn't have to be flas

I absolutely conceded that it is not legally required. I just don't want to do business with people who think that's an ethical way to do things. The hosting excuse is pathetic. Learn to do your job and it isn't something you

When the purchase medium is a download link the expectation is that the link keeps working if the company is in business. Give a good reason it shouldn't. Edit: also, list your startups. I like to avoid doing business with people who t

To start off, I said optimistic locking before and I actually meant pessimistic locking. But I think it totally depends on what your queue is used for. In my case, I need durable queues that report status/errors and support retries

You're naive if you think those don't affect small shops. If you want to do enterprise software, even as a small shop, things like requiring pull request approvals is an absolute must. Our customers demand it. Doesn't matter

You are right. It is just a row level lock... But that doesn't change the fact you are explicitly choosing to use long running transactions, which adds to table bloat and eats active connections to your DB as mentioned. It also hurts t

You have jobs running on more than 130k different machines daily?? Are they cloud based VMs, or your own hardware? If cloud based, do you reprovision all of them daily and incur no cost when you are not running jobs? If it's your own h

I may believe both of those things, but no that's not actually what I meant. I simply meant look at the stats for how long corporations actually live. Are we sure that's how we want to structure our government?

Sorry we handicapped ourselves and are now complaining about a competitor? Seems silly. The west made this tech unusable. I was building ebikes in 2006/7 and A123 was entirely unavailable unless you went and salvaged power tool packs.
