I mean, I (and a ton of others) were pretty outspoken about ollama being a pack of grifters. The thing they are good at is marketing though, so it drowns out other projects in the area.

Heh, you have no idea how many websites you interact with daily are powered by Java backends in that case.

I'm extremely unsympathetic to US auto manufacturers. They have fumbled every time they possible could my entire life. They deserved to go under from 2008. Let companies that actually want to innovate rise from the ashes.

Your initial claim was that Europe should start opening more wells for domestic production. If they started right now, that would help with this current oil/ gas shock in the market? They wouldn't come online until far after this

I think you read a bit too much into my message. I agree, it's complicated, I don't want my parents and grandparents easily getting scammed. But yes they are my devices, and I should be able to do exactly what I want with them. If

Yep, I have a legitimate use case for exactly this. It integrates directly with my application and gives it native phone capabilities that are unavailable if I were to use a VoIP provider of any kind.

Demand isn't static. Economics 101: if Europe taps new wells, global supply increases. Higher supply drives down prices. Lower prices induce more consumption. We wouldn't just be cleanly swapping imported fuel for domestic fuel 1:

That's lucky. My county sheriff implemented predictive policing [1] until they were forced to stop because of many constitutional violations. 1. https://ij.org/press-release/case-closed-pasco-sheriff-admit...

That is because that money is allowed to be made by externalizing the cost to future generations. People hate migrants enough as it is. Climate crisis migrations will make these "little" war migrations seem quaint.

Have you watched any of the video from the raid, depositions, or the trial? They are not smart people.

Right, and a lot of people would rather avoid that issue altogether by using a different concurrency model.

Hell, I even had a use case where serial GC was actually the correct choice (small job runner process that needed to be extremely low memory overhead). It's nice having options, and most of those options are extremely good for the use

JFR is one of my favorite things about the JVM. Such good tooling to figure out whatever it is you are having problems with in production. I've also used Eclipse MAT to find tricky dangling references to objects that caused memory leak
