From a scientific perspective, you are probably correct. But think about it from a company/wealth creation perspective. Are you then really sure the correct course of action is to take it chill?

As engineers we are given building blocks that we can build things from. Iron, steel, copper, plastic. Every once in a while a new building block arrives. It takes a while for us to figure out how to use it. But when we do, the world change

First steps of how LK99 could be used - embed superconducting nanocrystals into things. Given how insanely much metals we use for conductors I think it will be quite a while until this sees any kind of mass usage. But wow what an industrial

It’s so fun to watch these builder-youtubers develop over time. If they just keep on releasing videos and building stuff, even if they are not so skilled in the beginning eventually they become really skilled! It really shows that practice

The list is INSANELY long. Most multinationals seem to be operating on a "business as usual" principle in Russia. If they all risk jail time, things will be different. Also consider that any purchases of anything from Russia would

Yeah - that seems to be about Russia being a state sponsor of terrorism (e.g. https://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/en/press-room/20221118IP... ) But what I would like to see is a situation where companies payin

So, are they terrorists you say? Well, then. Classify them as such. => Any funding of them is now funding of terrorism. Including paying tax in Russia. Which means any and all companies doing business in and with Russia, and the individu

1. The people who are possible users of something like this are already on Twitter. The target audience is not all of Facebook, so not 10x. 2. I have seen data that can be used to argue Twitter is slipping. But to claim Twitter is dying is

I don't get this at all. To me it seems like it will obviously fail. 1. Twitter is all about who is there. How will they make people start posting on this? 2. New platforms take off because they innovate, not because they do what other

I agree with many comments here but especially with this - the domains these alien artefacts touch are the things that makes them so tricky. Nonlinear optimization is one such area I work with regularly. It seems there is an analogy to pyth

Disrupting lithium for batteries is like disrupting silicon for transistors - sure there are niches and areas where other things, like silicon carbide or gallium can be used! But to any one trying to pour money into something competing with

Long term we should all be worried. Or hopeful? It is unclear to me if it is a blessing or a curse to have what one loves doing revolutionized... I am actually leaning towards blessing. At least if the goal of programming is passion for bui

A "fun" thing here is that it isn't possible to create or open these streams in ffmpeg due to neither hevc or AV1 being part of the Adobe RTMP standard. At least as per this thread: https://trac.ffmpeg.org/tic

Interesting in a ”the russians used a pencil” way, but the text confused me by talking about hydrogen _leaks_ being detected this way. Surely brooms can only indicate hydrogen _flames_.
