It’s funny the article uses blurry images as an example of broken experience and then suggests WhatsApp as an alternative, where image quality is absolutely horrendous. Many of my friends groups stopped using WhatsApp only for this reason.

Due to inertia of the piston and minor velocity difference of moving up vs down in a cranking geometry, an ICE will be unbalanced and generate vibrations. Called primary and secondary balance. This has nothing to do with tolerance, but yeah

What an odd feature to expose to the the user. User data partition is already encrypted. It would be enough with different boot option, chosen by the workshop with usb, fastboot or key combo, they could not access data anyway. Maybe its har

Curious on your take of designing your own api rather than using Kubernetes. Is it due to difficulties of containerizing gpus or is the api space of k8s too big and difficult for a small cloud provider to implement? Maybe the workloads comp

Yes, point 2 is really the elevator pitch of Kalman filters. It enables sensor fusion, averaging a fast noisy sensor with a slow accurate sensor, or even add a model as one less confident input to the filter. As pointed out elsewhere in thi

Does it matter if it’s run twice? Usually it’s so fast you hardly even notice it. If your pre-commit takes more than 3 seconds to run it’s set up incorrectly IMO, and should belong to a more manually (and CI of course) invoked test suite in

Someone else pointed out Bézier curves. What is interesting is such are same as the bending equation! Back in the pre-cad days, designers would bend a piece of thin, elastic spline-wood to draw curves. From the side it looks exactly like a

The problem becomes a lot more difficult and interesting once you start involving multiple people. Should everybody have many or exactly one task assigned? Should one person be on stand-by for operations? Should tasks be paired to two devel

Control systems, or any form of embedded safety critical system, use monotonic clocks where calendar time is a complete non-issue. Ordering of events, on what scale are we talking here? If it’s just within a transactional database there are

If one is relying on time of all actors in a distributed system to be perfectly in sync, you already have a bug, leap seconds or not. (unless you are Google Spanner) For timers within a single system, use monotonic clock of your own cpu.

This is how Kubernetes works in many ways. Crash a pod and the control loop inside the ReplicaSet will create a new pod for you. Scaling nodes is based on similar principles of desired vs actual values.

Half of the list is equally premature conclusions. Without entertaining this too much: You have properties, slots, __setitem__, dict merging with inplace h1.update(h2) or returning {**h1, **h2, “key”:”toadd”}. Defaultdict being clunky, real

Dict_values is a readonly set, not a list. Sets are generally unique, non indexable and unordered. Since dict keys are generally intended to be unique, this is a much better data structure, because very often you just want to check if x in

Without knowing anything about Cue, just be careful with choosing to a technology only because it scales to the largest infra on earth, it doesn’t mean it scales equally good for smaller deployments.
